My Story - How I Got Started in Cell Phone Unlocking and Repairs

Just thought it would be a good idea to tell my story before proceeding to blog about Gsm unlocking and repairs. I started unlocking and repairing phones about 5 years ago after becoming sick and tired of my then job as a Security Guard. I was always a person who love gadgets, and would often fix different electronic devices around my house that were broken.

That love I had for fixing electronic devices made it easy for me to make a transition from being a Security Guard to becoming a Cell Phone Technician. But when I say easy - don’t get me wrong! I am not saying it happened over night... I’m just saying my passion made it easier for me to make the decision. Infect, my journey from there to where I am today has been anything but easy!

I didn't really go to school to learn all that I now know. What I actually went to school to study was Auto Mechanic. I just later decided that it would be best if I perused the area I was more passionate about. So I headed straight into learning about Cell Phone Unlocking and Repairs.

A lot of the basic principles that I have learnt came from working with, and learning from some of the best cell phone repairs and unlocking Specialist here in Jamaica. But a greater part of my knowledge came from staying up nights after nights trying to unlock different phones that were considered impossible to unlock – The kinds that were sent to many other Technicians who were unable to unlock them.

Those nights would find me searching the internet for hours looking for solutions to problems that different Technicians didn't have the answers to. It's through those many nights of staying up, and a whole lot of trials and errors that have caused me to get to where I am today. I'm now the co-operator of a Cell Phone Repairs and Unlocking shop located in Portmore, Jamaica - along with a good friend of mine.

My First Blog Post

I want to first of all welcome you to my new blog. In this first post I'm just going to brief you on some of the subjects that relate to Gsm unlocking that I will be covering in the coming days and weeks.

My main aim for doing this blog is to provide useful unlocking tips and tricks for those who want to know how to unlock their Gsm phones. I will also be blogging about how to repair and service Gsm phones. This will be especially helpful to anyone wishing to become a Mobile Phone Technician.

Here is a list of some of the topics that I plan to cover over a period of time:

  • The basics of Gsm unlocking and repair
  • The necessary unlocking tools
  • The required procedure for unlocking different phone models
  • Flashing and upgrading firmware
  • Common fatal errors to avoid when unlocking
  • How to troubleshoot and diagnose problems that need repair
  • The different types of unlock box and the model phones they unlock

Of course there are a host of other topics that I will be coving each week. So if you are interested in learning how to unlock and repair cell phones - I suggest you bookmark this blog or subscribe to the rss feed so you can learn from my experiences.

Due to my work load, I won't be able to update this blog as often as I would have wish - which is daily, but I will try to make at least 2-3 new posts each week.
